Tips To Age A New Mirror
Are You trying to get your mirror to look aged? Well I will make an attempt to help you. In the past 2 years I have written a lot on decorative mirrors and extetensive writing has helped a number of home owners all over the world. If you want to be one those people then I suggest you take a few minutes to read through this brief but useful article.
One thing I must mention is that there are a number of ways to convert the glass area of the frame to an aged mirror. If you are not using unframed decorative mirrors you also have a choice to convert the frame of the mirror to a tray.
You can either use silver and gelatin or even an aluminum leaf. For a 300 square feet you could fork out something like $90 for most chemical kits however, you can also just use the aluminum leaf because it is cheaper.
I must mention that that this does not always work effectively especially because most people have trouble removing the grey paint on the back of the mirrors.
Antique Mirror Patina is another option you can consider for this project, which is a water based alkaline solution, a water based solution made from alkaline and and mimics the blemish and aged look of antique mirrors. To cover a square feet you may have to spend something like $2, which could add up to about $80 for a standard mirror.
These are not the only options you can choose when trying to turn your floor length mirrors or any type you may have into an antique. I am confident that what I have shared above is enough to get you going.
